Many women think that having big breasts is attractive. This view about beauty makes breast augmentation popular to women that have small breasts. Even if it is not very affordable, many women still choose to get the procedure.

Breast augmentation, augmentation mammoplasty in its medical term, is a type of plastic surgery where the breasts are enhanced. This entire process takes just a few weeks to be completed from the consultation process through the recovery after the surgery. Before the surgery, the patient will have to decide what type of implant she wants and what breast size does she want to achieve. Prospects for breast augmentation will go through a throughout consultation process before the doctor will continue with the process to enlarge her breasts.

There are two types of breast implants, saline implants and silicone gel implants.

Saline implants: These are silicone shells that have sterile salt water inside them. These are placed inside the part body of the patient. These shells are empty when they are put inside the body, so the scar that is left after the surgery is minimized.

Silicone gel implants: Silicon gel implants are different from the other type of breast implant. This is because they are pre-filled. This implant feels more like true breasts than saline implants. However, many people are afraid to choose this type because the substances inside it are more likely to leak.

The main benefit of breast augmentation for the recipient is mental. Generally, the women that desire breast augmentation are not satisfied with what they see in front of the mirror. This can cause them to have low self-esteem. After the surgery, they often feel better about themselves because of the balanced figure they’ve achieved.

Before deciding to have a breast augmentation, the first thing the possible patient should do is to look for a surgeon that will do the surgery. The surgeon should be a specialist in plastic surgery and have at least two years of experience in this specialty and a minimum of five years experience in surgical training. The patient should know if the facilities used are accredited. She should also research about the doctor to see if he follows the profession’s code of ethics and if he is a certified member of The American Board of Plastic Surgery. Also, compare breast augmentation photos so that you have an idea of the size, shape and style of implant you want.

The biggest drawback of this procedure is the price. The average cost of breast augmentation surgery ranges from $5,000 to $10,000 and it is not covered by many medical insurance policies.

Women who really want to look good and feel good will not mind how much does breast augmentation cost. For them, the satisfaction they can get from it will be greater than the amount they spent to have bigger breasts.
